***Disassembled for Winter***

1990 Ford F150 "The Jackhammer"

The guts of the interior have been removed to make measuring and mock up alot easier.  As you can see we used 2x4's for the sub floor supports that were bolted into place.  A 8" cut was removed to run the wires from the front to the back, and for the 5' whips on the CB radio. (left)

The front battery received some upgrades to 0 guage wire for power and for the ground.  This truck has 3 different grounds coming off the battery, wired, but all were upgraded, as well as the main power line. (right)

The subfloor is made from 3/4" HDP that was divided into two pieces to make installation a little bit easier.  We sealed the floor and also applied some foam to the open chambers in the side panels to help with the flex we saw in the last build.  The bungie cord are a temp restraint fo the battery until the actual mount comes in...although I do like the bungie look!  The sides of the floor were angled for seat belt clearance issuses, and so were legal, right.  The subfloor and the interior framework of the truck are now level and able to accept the weight of the custom boxes. The inside of the boxes received a silicone to help seal the air in the box.  All joints were sealed and a pressure test was preformed to ensure a good seal. (right)

Here is what the box looks like after assembly, before the finishing process.  The ports will be painted flat black and all the joints will have a fiberglass resin applied for structural support and to make the box stornger then with glue,  screws and silicone.  Remember that trick kids!! (left)

This is the first box in the truck to see how the fit would be and get a clearance measurement for the amps which will be mounted on top of the box.  The boxes will be carpeted with a 2 tone silver and blue carpet to keep the jack hammer theme.(right)

This is a side shot of the resin that was applied to the seams of the box.  No fiberglass matting was applied, just the resin. (left)

Carpet scheme was decided and blue and silver were the colors of choice.  The boxes were squeezed into the truck with 0 tolerance. (below)

Here is a picture of both boxes loaded.  Unfortunatley one of the amps did not work when I took it out of the box.  So we are only running 1 set of the subs at this time.  Now that we are about 70% done, the only thing left is to work on the midrange areas as well as finishing up the trim work on the boxes and install some lights. Next step on the list is to build a plate to block off the amps and a place to mount the 6x9's, since this truck only came with 1 set of 5.25" speakers. (right and below)
